The basic premise of astrology is that anything born or done at a moment in time shares the quality of that moment. Natal astrology takes this principle and applies it to the event of the birth of an individual, under the premise that the configuration of the planets at the moment of a person's birth have something significant to say about the nature and course of their life. In relationship analysis this principle is taken one step further, with the notion that the way in which two people interact and the very nature of their relationship together can be described by comparing the placement of the planets at each person's birth to each other.

My Approach to Relationship Analysis via Astrology

Relationship analysis using astrology involves the use of several different techniques in order to determine the overall compatibility of the two people involved in the relationship.

The first step is to acquire an understanding of each individual's birth chart separately, in order to determine how each person does in relationships in general, and whether they encounter that specific area of their life with relative difficulty or ease. Each person's chart must also be examined within the context of current transits, progressions and time-lord periods in order to determine if they are currently in an easy period in their life that seems to be conducive to positive relationships, or if it is a more difficult time period that indicates some difficulties in that particular area.

The next step is to look at the synastry between the two charts. Synastry involves taking both charts and superimposing them upon one another, in order to see where the each person's planets fall relative to the other's chart. This technique provides information about how the two people relate to each other, and what strengths or weaknesses each person is likely to highlight or bring out in the other. This method can help to show if the couple relates well emotionally, physically, and mentally.

The third step is to analyze the 'composite chart' or relationship chart that the two people create when they are together. A composite chart is constructed by calculating the mathematical midpoints between each person's planets, and constructing a third chart which symbolizes the relationship itself. This third chart is like an entity in it of itself which both people become aware of when the couple comes in contact with each other. This chart seems to be much more static in that it shows more of the purpose of the relationship and where it is going, whereas synastry is often better at showing how the two people relate to each other.

The final step is to study the couple's current and future periods in which certain planets are active, both relative to each individual's natal chart as well as to the composite chart itself. The purpose of this is to get an idea of where the relationship is at now, what sort of themes are currently active, and then how it might evolve over time based on what kind of trends are coming up in the future. This sometimes helps to shed light on challenges that can crop up during the course of any relationship, so that the couple can work though them with a better perspective on what is going on.

How Are Relationship Consultations Conducted?

Relationship analysis consultations are either done over the phone or through Skype. The consultation usually lasts for about an hour and a half. Prior to the consultation you will be receive an email with copies of all of the relevant charts, as well as any notes that I have taken in preparation for the consultation. After the consultation is over I will send you an email with a link so that you can download a recording of the consultation in MP3 format.

Birth Data

The following pieces of information are required from both people in the relationship in order to accurately calculate all of the astrological charts involved in the consultation:

1. The birth date - month, day and year (e.g. May 6, 1978).
2. Location of birth - i.e. the city, state, and/or country.
3. The exact time of birth - The exact time of birth is extremely important when calculating and interpreting horoscopic charts, so this must be as close to exact as possible if you wish to receive an accurate analysis. Preferably the time should be derived from the birth certificate. Please let me know the source of your birth time and how accurate you think that it is when you schedule the consultation. If you are not certain about your birth time then please let me know.

Cost, Payment, Scheduling, etc.

I charge a flat fee of $125 USD for relationship analysis consultations, which covers both the prep-time that I take prior the consultation to examine the charts and take some notes on them, as well as the actual consultation itself.
