The purpose of this course is to provide an introduction to horary astrology, which is a branch of astrology that is used in order to answer specific questions by casting a chart for the moment that the question asked.
The course covers the history and origins of horary astrology, as well as the philosophical, conceptual and technical underpinnings of the subject.
Students will finish the course with a strong foundation in the practice of horary astrology, and with a solid understanding of how to answer horary questions in practice.
The course is presented entirely online, through a private course site that each student gains access to upon registering.
Horary astrology is the practice of determining the answer to a specific question through the examination and interpretation of a horoscopic chart cast for the moment that the question is posed to an astrologer.
The theory is that since the question exists and is formulated and posed at a specific moment in time, then the answer must also exist at that moment, and this answer is reflected by the alignment of certain celestial bodies in an astrological chart cast for that point in time.
By following a very specific set of rules, the answer to the question is sought to be derived entirely from the chart of the question itself.
The course is divided into four parts. Each part of the course contains a 90 minute audio lecture with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation which present the basic concepts for that section of the course.
There are also guided reading assignments from primary source texts, as well as other additional optional reading materials that are provided on the course site for further study.
In each part of the course students may choose to participate in the class and get feedback by responding to study board questions in the student forums, or by completing short optional written assignments on the topics covered during a particular part of the course. Others may opt to simply focus on studying the material provided in the course without completing assignments. The course is designed to be flexible so that each student may adapt it to their own unique needs and time schedules.
The entire course is presented online through a private course site. New students can register and gain access to the course site at anytime. Shortly after a new student registers for the course they will receive an email with their login information, at which point they will be able to access the course site and immediately begin studying at their own pace.
Since the course is presented online there are no specific times that students will need to be available for the course, and each person is able to study at their own pace.
The first part of the course covers the historical undercurrents which fostered the creation and development of horary astrology, as well as the philosophical and conceptual foundations underlying the subject.
The second part of the course focuses on the technical apparatus underlying horary astrology, with an overview of some core concepts that are necessary in order to understand horary charts. In this part of the course several core technical concepts which provide the basis for a precise approach to predictive astrology are discussed. The later part of this section is focused on the practice of “consultation charts”, which involves determining the thoughts of a person who approaches an astrologer at a specific moment in time.
The third part of the course covers the technical apparatus of horary astrology, with a focus on learning how to answer horary questions. This part of the course provides the tools and techniques for determining what will take place in the future based on the chart of the question itself. Many chart examples and case studies are used in order to demonstrate how to apply the techniques in practice.
The fourth part of the course expands upon the third with a lecture that contains an extended number of chart examples, showing additional ways in which horary questions can be answered.
While most of the material that is required for the course is available on the course site itself, there is one book that is required reading for the course.
The primary text that is required for the course must be purchased separately, and it usually costs around $40 USD to order from online vendors.
There is also an extended reading list with some other recommended titles, although these books are not required for the course.
The reading list is provided to students upon registering for the course.
The price for the Introduction to Horary Astrology Course is $100 USD.
